Education
Hope’s Place provides several specialist education courses for pupils in primary and secondary school. Our courses are designed to build self-esteem and help young people to make informed choices about their future — both in and out of romantic relationships with their peers. We offer three courses: Esteem8, What’s Your Story and the Fatherhood Course. Typically, we lead our courses free of charge in secondary school settings, although we are open to other more challenging environments.
Esteem8 is a multi-media, group-based learning program, geared toward girls in year 7 and up. For each of its participants, Esteem8 has the intention of building self-esteem, gaining confidence, making positive decisions, dealing with peer pressure, identifying and addressing negative self-perceptions, and evaluating self-perceptions in the context of wider society.
What’s My Story is our newest programme offering a multi-media exploration of self, identity and values within a community context. The programme is geared toward young women ages 14 and up, using a storytelling format to address the above themes.
Man Up is our programme for young men, written to complement to our self-esteem building coursework for young women. Man Up offers teenage boys the opportunity to explore questions of identity, self-esteem, and life ambition. The resource recognises that men learn differently from women and so has been designed specifically to engage young men.
Hope’s Place is always open to developing links with similarly-focused groups and organisations. We would also be delighted to lead one of our courses in your local primary or secondary school. For further enquiries, contact our Education Developer.
